Stalking the Stocker
***Horror / Macabre artwork, particularly that of a bloody nature is an acquired taste. If you do not enjoy seeing it, please, do not look. And just as is suggested for Daily Deviations, please do not comment on an artists work with your harmful or hurtful opinions of it. You have the ability to turn off Mature Content works by editing your settings. As with any art, horrific or not, if you have nothing constructive to say in a polite manner, then don't say anything at all.***
Farfetched as it may seem, contributors to the Stock and Resources Gallery on Deviant Art have had their arms (as well as various other implements) elbow deep in the bloody and gory mess that constitutes as Horror / Macabre. These wonderful submissions are more often then not of a photographic nature, taking skill, lighting and a steady hand to create. Frequently overlooked, sometimes just beautiful without the horror, there are some impressive and fascinat

F Is For Focus:
Just like any other form of photography, horror and macabre relies heavily on focus. This can mean two things - one being the focus of the PICTURE ITSELF and the other being focused on your work in general. You can go ahead and let the camera shake and have a blurry, uncooperative photograph and still call it a finished work, and sometimes the point in fact IS that the photograph is blurry, but more often then not with a little effort, you could create wonders with an interesting focal point. Being focused on the work at hand is also essential for the outcome of the piece. If you are distracted or merely creating work just because of its shock value, the piece is vastly diminished and has less impact then a well thought out photograph. This applies to all art forms. You shouldn't do it just because you can, you

Project Educate: Suggesting Horror and Macabre Photography Daily Deviations
As with any gallery moderator on deviant art, I have specific and set in stone guidelines for daily deviations. For those of you who don't know what a daily deviation is, or how to suggest one, this article is for you!
If you were to be browsing the Horror and Macabre Gallery one day, and suddenly, you noticed a photograph that sent chills down your spine, and you feel like it should be noticed by a wider audience, the first step is going to the deviants page.
Checking to see if they have had a daily deviation in the past three months is important! By clicking on their gallery, and clicking 'Browse', if they've had a daily deviation, a link will show up at the bottom of the first screen that will read '"Deviantnamehere"'s Daily Deviations." If y

Project Educate: Horror Photography Epitaphs - RockstarVanity
Most of us know RockstarVanity as the former horror and macabre gallery moderator here on deviant art. I was going to ask her all kinds of questions about how she liked her position, but I figured I would stick to questions about her and why she has created some of the best (and bloodiest) horror photographs that I've come across since joining the site. She's inspirational, she is easy to talk to and just an all around wonder, without further ado, I bring to you some finger lickin' good information on the sparkly, shiny and sleek Tanya.

My name's James Glendinning. I'm primarily an artistic & fetish photographer based in Annapolis, Md. I'm readily available anywhere within a 2 hour radius, and longer distances when compensated. I frequently visit Orlando, Tampa, and Cocoa/Melbourne, Fl. I also travel elsewhere whenever I can. |
I have been operating under the name "SilverLight Esoterica Photography" (SLE Photo or SLE Photography for short) since 1989. I have a web site that is being rebuilt: James Glendinning, SilverLight Esoterica Photography www.slephoto.com. While I still work in film, as of early 2006 I made the shift to primarily digital work. Links to other sites showcasing my work can be found there.
My focus is on creating work designed to be showcased in large prints. I exhibit in galleries & shows around the southeast US. I do much of my work on a trade basis, offering a variety of looks and styles for the model's portfolio in exchange for images I can use in my shows.
Unless shoots are set for sites like Zivity where the model & I are both members, I do NOT shoot web content unless requested by a model to do so (I will trade content for models' sites for images I can use). While I shoot fetish, bondage, and erotic work I do not shoot ANY hardcore material, and no requests for such will be entertained.
I also offer some paying work for projects that have commercial intentions (such as the Zodiac At the Beach Calendar/poster series I have shot and am working to complete) or for some of my clients such as for ads for The Woodshed. I will contact models for such projects or place castings, no unsolicited requests for paid work will be answered.
I frequently collaborate with other photographers and digital artists. If another photographer is credited on one of my images, that photographer either assisted on the shoot or did the retouching or manipulations.
At this time I am seeking the following:
* African-American, Asian, and Hispanic models to increase diversity in my portfolio.
* Male models willing to act in dominant and submissive roles for fetish images, some with other males and some with females.
* Men and women interested in alternative spirituality for my Goddesses series and my Gods In Modern Times series.
* Men and women interested in alt. spirituality and fetish for my bondage Tarot project.
I usually work with a female assistant or MUA on any shoot unless I am working with a group of models. I do NOT shoot solo with models if possible. Having said that, I am not a fan of escorts, as I find they typically disrupt shoots. If you won't work without an escort we probably are not compatible to work together.
Due to the nature and content of some of my work, I will not shoot with or accept networking/friends requests from anyone under the age of 18.
I use Digimarc to copyright-protect my images. Please respect my copyrights.
Note that NONE of the work I display here on DeviantArt **EXCEPT the work displayed in my "Stock" folder and SPECIFICALLY labeled as stock** may be used, copied, or distributed in any way or form without express written consent, nor is it in the public domain.
